Photos of the day: Miami Heat NBA championship parade

MIAMI — June 25, 2012.

It’s been a little more than six years since the last championship parade was held in Downtown Miami.

Though I’ve lived in the city my whole life and have seen four titles — two by the Marlins (’97, ’03) and two by the Heat (’06, ’12) — I had never witnessed a parade in person.

That changed today.

Below are photos I took at the championship parade, which began on SW 8th Street in Brickell. After the buses breezed by that area, I ran to AmericanAirlines Arena via bridge, street and crowd to see the procession culminate.
