SUNRISE, Fla. — Instead of writing up an article on the first Florida Panthers playoff victory since 1997, I decided to post video of the final seconds of their 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils in Game 2.

Stephen Weiss — the first star who scored two goals — spoke with reporters after the game. Here are some good quotes from the postseason newbie.

On the Devils’ comeback:

  • “You’ve seen the way the playoffs have gone this year. No lead’s safe really, so you’ve got to keep pushing and forget about the scoreboard. It’s a long series. You’ve just got to keep playing no matter what the score is, and they did that.”

On the atmosphere inside the BankAtlantic Center:

  •  “It’s unbelievable. You can see that they’ve been waiting for this kind of hockey for a long time, and it’s nice to see the people come out and fill the building and show that type of energy. It definitely helps us out a lot.”

On the organization finally winning in the playoffs again (and he getting that shot for the first time in his 10-year career):

  • “It was worth the wait.”
